*9 SUMMER 2003 - 'TOO PUNK TO PRINT!' - 5000 (eventually) copies made at our new printers Eastend - many thanks to them and to Active for the help in a crisis.

'Friends, Readers and Bogeymen, The much awaited forth coming issue number 9 of Reason To Believe Zine has been withdrawn from the printing press by our printers on the basis of the "political and legal implications" of its content. This was advised by the printing company's new legal advice team, recently set in place after a successful takeover bid from another larger printing house.

Whilst we remain on good terms with the indivduals and staff of the above printers, it seems that no one wants you to read first hand accounts of things like a trip to Palestine to join The International Solidarity Movement, The Days of Resistance against the G8 in Evian this summer, or wandering around occupied Tibet... Are they trying to ignore the Eroding Empire or Faslane Peace Camp and it seems like they don't want to support lesser known bands like The Barnhouse Effect, Skitkidz, Nikmat Olalim, Rai Ko Ris from having thier say in interviews. And they definately don't want anyone to read xleox's bad reviews...

The fact of the matter is, the zine got pulled at the last minute due to content, and from where we at RTB are stood, this content was nothing more than the opinions, views, hard work and effort of various contributors and collective members alike. It wasn't particularly 'radical' by our definition of 'punk' standards, but obviously the big wide world out there is treading rather carefully in these dark days, trying hard not to rock the boat.

Why do you care? Well maybe you don't, but remember that Reason To Believe is YOUR zine, which relys on input from people just like you, and once materialised is nothing more than a forum for promoting thought, action and ideas, perfect for reading on the bog. It'll be a sad day when the UK and Europe punk DIY Hc punk community loses all ability to think, act or indulge in itself. All we ask is that you be patient whilst we seek help with alternative printing, and keep yourselves vocal, snot nosed and opinionated as possible in the eyes of 'the man' for as long as you can. We'd also like to thank all our advertisers, contributors and subscribers for helping us all the way. Take care of yourselves, and each other.... RTB Collective'

ISSUE 6 - SUMMER 2002   The 'Jubilee' Issue! 80 pager  6000 printed

" Now everyone of you should send for this one, this is important, we need more well put together DIY publications (DIY does not have to mean amateur) with this kind of attitude in these soulless product-pushing times. We rescued a big pile of these from the rain at the Uxfest, been sending them out in the post ever since, seems that even though they were free no-one wanted to pick up a copy, come on you godamn Kerrang readers!!!) If you're in anyway into what we're doing here at Organ then you need to go delve a lot lot further into the DIY scene and get involved yourself. Music is a catalyst, it should not be just a product and we'd like to think Organ opens doors and that you'll push through and explore. Go on, give Kerrang a miss this week and send for this instead. It's not enough for you to to just read Organ and throw it in the corner, you've got to start thinking about things, you've got to follow up these reviews and go check out a few alternatives, you've got to dig deeper, there's a bit more to punk rock than reading bloody Big Cheese in your new Household Name hooded top. Go get this zine, go get involved, go contribute. Alongside all the music you've got features on food co-ops, the rise and fall of DIY Distribution, the J.A.R collective - a bunch of anarchists from Mexico, an excellent Czech Republic DIY scene report. An intersting article on peat, the STE collective - a bunch of people who've been organising gigs for themselves in Southampton (rather than just moaning about bands never playing their town). you've got interviews  with bands like DUMBSTRUCK, BREZHNEV, SEEIN' RED and more, you've got bag loads of reviews of bands who vaguely fall under the punk / hardcore / emo banner.  RTB is packed with those vital contact addresses, DIY outlets, creative plug ins - yep, it's important that you support publications like this , it's even more important that you get involved.. A4 SAE gets you a free copy, ask for two and give one to a mate"

ISSUE 4 WINTER 2001 'Post 911' issue... 5000 printed

'What the punk world needs now is Reason to Believe fanzine, I mean it. Mixing punk music with punk politics this mag really does seem to manage to cover what is going on in Punk land. Reminds me of Profane Existence (but a lot cleaner, P.E always seemed a bit grubby!) with its scene reports, letters, comments etc but as it is produced in Leeds folk it seems that bit more relevant - eg I've heard some of the bands and recognise folk in the photos. I really do hope this zine continues as it makes me feel dead positive: a publication that can strengthen and spread the ideas of punk rock and the DIY ideas that spereate our music from the mainstream. This issue contains interviews with bands as well as articles on riots in Gothenburg, wimmin in punk, CRASS / Dial House and stacks of reviews and news all nicely whacked together in a punk stylee complete with photos and political graphics / images. If I could be a zine I'd be this one.'

   DECK THE REDNECK

'This new issue just arrived and proves that his zine is really a force to reckon with. I'm so glad to see the consistency of this one cause, damn, it's a good zine. Seriously, I think if there is one new awesome zine that covers politics, hardcore, and punkrock from a DIY point of view that its worth getting your hands on - it's this one. So please, do yourself a favour and get to know this zine, this issue has band interviews with Newborn, Stef from Catharsis, HHH, and Coche Bomba. Slovakia scene report. Interview w/Illegal (zine). Political protest coverage in Europe, an interview w/ Guerillavision - activist film makers. Plus the usual features and more..'

ISSUE 3 AUTUMN 2001 'Women in DIY' issue 5000 printed
" Interviews with Manifesto Jukebox (finland), E150 (Spain), scene report from Bulgaria with extensive history of the country back through the 70s, there is a report from Macadonia on current political climates, a report from Genoa (from the G8 Summit) which seems to be much more of an account of the horrible experience it was to be in the midst of the violence - which is an approach I find to be more interesting than the militant anarchist battle report. The feature of this issue is a focus on Wimminin DIY punk & hardcore - which I was really interested in and still need to spend some time with. It covers the perspectives of a variety of women who are involved in different ways and is supposed to serve as an introduction to some of active women who can possibly be role models to those who see the scene as male dominated. The idea is to support other women and encourage them in thier endevors. This is kind of reminiscent of the Heartattack issue that focused on women which I found totally inspirational. There is also a nice spread (well illustrated) on self defence for women. A write up on the Comon Weal which is an indie libary in Bradford England and there is a good amount of music reviews, as well as zine and book reviews and news. This is a fucking Rad zine!! Seriously, it's well rounded - covering punk, hardcore and politics in an interwoven relevant manner. The focus is on positive useful information that can serve to inspire and link theinternational punk/activist community. This zine is distributed for free -you can get it in the US for postage costs - and I highly recommend that you do!"

   SLUG AND LETTUCE

'This is an impressive publication. Reason to Believe contains in depth articles on many topics that concern folks in the DIY community. This issue features a series of writings by wimmin that address their concerns with and observations of their involvement with the extended DIY / punk / hardcore community. The contributions look at sexism and constraints wimmin experience in punk, how aggressive behaviour at shows affetct wimmin, and the many experiences of wimmin running record labels, playing in bands, forming collectives, and as a journalist in the scene. This ection also includes extensive information on and illustrations of self defence for wwimmin and girls. Othe articles include an extended  analysis of the conflicts in Macedonia, and a scene report from Bulgaria that tells the history of underground music and art in that country since the 1960s. There is an interview with a member of the Hamwic Housing Co-op that explores the methods for establishing and maintaining a housing co-op. There is a lengthy overview of the actions and protests around the Genoa summit by some people who ended up in the thick of the police retaliation riots. There are interviews with Finland's MANIFESTO JUKEBOX and Barcelona's E150. The MANIFESTO JUKEBOX folks discuss the hardcore scene in Scandinavia and Finland's use of consription to fill its military . E150 talk about the diversification of punk rock in Spain and the social and political issues they deal with in Barcelona. filling out the rest of this issue are many zine and record reviews, a few book reviews, and a few pages of news from the Netherlands, the UK, and Spain. All this information combines to create a very positive reding experience.'

ISSUE 2 SUMMER 2001 '1in12Club Special' 5000 printed
"A full size newsprint zine with 1in12club special enticingly printed on the cover. It's got the usual - reviews of zines, music and books, ads, interviews and articles. The letters section is filled with personal acconts of the Mayday celebrations in London. The interviews are with Bridge records, Unkind, and NNY. Other stuff includes diary excerpts from one womans travels to live on a self sufficient farm, info on hyperactivity (ADD), and a huge 1in12 Club section. In that section there's chats with some of the folks involved with the club, plus details on all the activity groups that have put into existence and are based at the 1in12 club (which is a DIY place in Bradford England) There's still things I'mforgetting to mention involved in this issue - so just get hold of a copy - a damn fine zine.'

SPRING 2001 ISSUE 1 'We actually got this thing out' 5000 printed
"A new venture from people that have been involved with things like Armed With Anger, Flat Earth Records and Duhh zine for a good few years. The aim is to provide a focus for the European DIY scene, and I think that is such a cool idea. As they admit, this first issue doesn't achieve all their aims, but it is a damn fine start and shows a lot of promise. For issue one you get Endstand, Bernd from Scorched Earth Policy Records, a cool Ecuador travel story, Scarborough DIY Collective, a 'how to build your own skate ramp' piece and more. Definitely a zine to support, so send off that SAE, or buy a subscription, or contribute."
